Why tutreo exists
tutreo grew out of a frustration familiar to anyone who has taught in a secondary school: classes of thirty move at the pace the class can manage, and the students who need ten more minutes on a topic rarely get them.
Those ten minutes are what tuition is for. Not extra content, not a second school, but the time and attention to find the one misunderstanding that is quietly undermining everything built on top of it - and to fix it properly.
Every student is taught by the same qualified teacher who is still working in a secondary classroom. There is no agency in between, no rotating pool of tutors, and no student handed to someone teaching a subject outside their specialism.
Sessions run in person across Aylesbury and the surrounding parts of Buckinghamshire, or online for families further away and for students who would rather revise from home during exam season.

Four principles that shape every session
Find the real gap, not the presenting one
A Year 11 struggling with moles is usually struggling with ratio from Year 7. Sessions start by working backwards until we hit solid ground, then build forwards from there.
Understanding first, technique second
Exam technique matters, and it is taught here. But technique layered over a shaky understanding collapses under pressure, so the understanding comes first.
Make the student do the work
The person holding the pen is the person learning. Sessions are built around the student attempting, getting stuck, and being guided out - not watching someone else solve problems.
Say the difficult thing
If a grade target is unrealistic, or tuition is no longer the best use of your money, you will be told. Parents deserve an honest read, not a reassuring one.

Current classroom experience
Still teaching in a secondary school, so lessons reflect how these specifications are actually being taught and assessed this year.
Examiner-informed marking
Work is marked against the published mark schemes, using the same criteria a real examiner applies.
Safeguarding
DBS and safeguarding
An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate is held and kept current.
Safeguarding training is maintained through ongoing professional development as a serving teacher. Any safeguarding concern arising during tuition is handled in line with statutory guidance, which may include sharing information with the student’s school or the local authority.
